Corona Opens New Laboratory and Offices in Philadelphia

Corona continues rapid growth, establishes new facilities to meet increasing demand for expertise in water testing and analysis services and building water quality management.

Rockland, MA and Philadelphia, PA (June 15, 2016) – Corona Environmental Consulting, LLC (www.coronaenv.com) is pleased to announce that it has opened a new 5,000-square-foot laboratory and office space in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. As challenges facing drinking water suppliers continue to grow, the water community continues to look to Corona for its industry-leading expertise in analyzing and resolving complex drinking water problems. In addition to source water protection and monitoring practices, Corona is expanding its premise plumbing and Building Water Quality management practices, which are headquartered at the Philadelphia location.

Recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and new protocols from the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) point to an increasing need for management of in-building water systems to prevent waterborne pathogens from causing disease outbreaks. “Water quality in buildings is often overlooked and not recognized as a potential health threat until a problem such as Legionnaires’ disease occurs” according to Jennifer Clancy, Director of Science and Engineering at Corona. “Incidents of Legionnaires’ disease have grown nearly 270% in the past 10 years. The CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) consider these risks a public health priority and assert that they are preventable. In response, Corona has developed rigorous solutions to help building owners and property managers mitigate the risks of such outbreaks.”

“Philadelphia is a special place for us. Philadelphia Water is an industry leader that we’ve been fortunate to partner with for over 20 years, assisting them in delivering safe, high quality drinking water to their constituents” said Jeffrey Rosen, CEO of Corona. “The location also puts us central to many other water industry leaders and customers, including American Water, Aqua America, DC Water, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. We look forward to continuing to support these organizations as we demonstrate a new commitment to economic development in the region.”

Corona is planning an open house at the new facility in the coming months and expects to formally announce the event in the next few weeks.
